Three time MLS All-Star Ronnie O’Brien is no longer a member of Toronto FC. O’Brien played one year with Toronto FC but due to a bad knee injury only was able to make 13 appearances during the whole year. TFC decided to trade O’Brien to the expansion San Jose Earthquakes for some cash and a first round draft pick in the 2009 Superdraft.
The Earthquakes are putting together a decent looking roster for their first year of MLS play. As of today this is what the roster looks like according to the Earthquakes official site.
GK
Preston Burpo
Joe Cannon
D
Ryan Cochrane
Nick Garcia
Jason Hernandez
James Riley
M
Ramiro Corrales
Ivan Guerrero
Ned Grabavoy
Chris Pozniak
Joe Vide
Ronnie O’Brien (not on the official roster yet)
F
Gavin Glinton
Kei Kamara
Several of these guys are listed at 2 positions, both Ramiro Corrales and Ivan Guerrero are listed at M-D so I put all those guys in the category that was listed first.

Toronto FC is 6 points down from the last playoff spot currently held by the Columbus Crew. Mo Johnston still thinks the playoffs are a realistic goal.
They also have 2 other teams above them still trying to get into that last playoff spot and Mo still thinks the playoffs are a possibility.
A former scoring champion and all around good striker Jeff Cunningham is now out for the rest of the season and Mo is still hoping for playoffs.
TFC’s only representative in this years all star game, Ronnie O’Brien is now also out for the remainder of the season. All the while Mo is thinking his team should make the playoffs still.
Other TFC fans are not quite as optimistic as Mo has been.

The first XI was decided last week, and now the All Star roster is complete.
MLS All Star coach Steve Nicol added 5 players of his choosing, and then Don Garber added his two commissioner’s picks. Nicol choose Brian Ching, Landon Donovan, Ronnie O’Brien, Kevin Hartman and Pable Mastroeni. Don Garber choose Jones and Pope, both long time MLS stars who are retiring after this season.
Maybe they aren’t quite all stars this season, but Cobi Jones and Eddie Pope have served Major League Soccer for a long time and deserve a spot on this team.
The MLS All Stars will be facing Celtic at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on July 19th. The game will be televised on ESPN2 at 8:00 PM CST.
