Preki is the only 2 time MLS MVP as well as being an 8 time all star. This was Preki’s first year as a head coach and he was just as brilliant. As the head of Chivas USA Preki led them to the western conference title in only the clubs 3rd year of existence. Then Preki’s old team, the Kansas City Wizards, knocked Chivas out of the playoff on a 1-0 aggregate score.
Maurice Edu won the other award just announced - the rookie of the year. The defensive midfielder at Toronto FC had an impressive season with 25 starts that saw him hit 4 goals and notch one assist. Edu was impressive enough to get his first call up to the US national team this year.
One more prediction wrong for me. I figured Preki would get the award for sure.
