It is a good time to be a soccer fan

It couldn’t get a lot better being a soccer fan than I felt today.

Saturday mornings bring a couple of EPL games every week.  The EPL is just winding down to an end as many of the European leagues are.

Last night was a Concacaf Champions Cup semi-final 2nd leg which was at least close up to the very final whistle.

Today I watched Manchester United vs Roma in the Champions League quarterfinal 1st leg.

Tomorrow night is another CCC semi-final 2nd leg, which will hopefully bring better results for MLS.

Saturday is the first day of the MLS regular season.

Both Copa America and the Gold Cup coming up this summer should be exciting.

All of this, and by the time the MLS season is wrapping up most European leagues will just be getting started up again.  It is always soccer season somewhere, which is why I’m not opposed to the schedule that MLS does playing through the summer months, which they sometimes take criticism for.  It is days like today that I’m happy to be a soccer fan and not a big fan on American Football or any sport that has really only one top league in the world.

Of course today would be a better day for anyone who is a Totti fan.  Not that he did anything spectacular today.  I would like to see Totti get relegated to Serie B, but then again I’m not a fan of much having to do with Italian football. I will reserve the right to cheer for Paulo Maldini whenever I want to though.

I watch Champions League games on ESPN2, usually have to record them cause they are on in the middle of the afternoon here in the central time zone.
