LA Galaxy and Chivas USA are supposed to be on ESPN2 in just under a half an hour from now so I’ll keep this short and sweet. Well sweet for half of the fans that will be at the game tonite.
The Galaxy just came off a big 3-1 win over the Colorado Rapids, but Chivas have been hot for a while and will be looking at claiming the top spot in the west tonite. Just like their last game, I predict a 2-0 win for Chivas USA. Sorry Galaxy fans, I just don’t think the Galaxy can win 2 in a row.

Tonite DC United take a winning streak into the Home Depot Center to face Chivas USA who are also on a winning streak of their own.
If DC United win:
- Chivas club record winning streak of 3 comes to an end.
- Chivas un-beaten on home field this season comes to an end.
If Chivas USA win:
- DC United league history record 6 consecutive win streak ends.
- DC United domination over Chivas USA ends with first EVER Chivas win.
If the game ends a draw:
- Chivas USA at least claim their first EVER point away from DC United.
- Two record setting win streaks come to an end.
- Simple minded folks who can’t understand not having a winner have more reason to hate soccer.
Both teams are pretty hot coming into this game. My prediction is that both winning streaks end tonite.

I couldn’t have been more wrong on my Thursday Prediction just hours ago.
First of all as Mr. Fish pointed out, tonite’s game was actually not on ESPN2 for some reason, so I didn’t see the game. Thanks for the correction Mr. Fish.
Secondly, the Rapids put a whooping on the Revolution. Who (besides Rapids fans) would have ever guessed that?
Jovan Kirovski scored a pair of goals in the first half and Omar Cummings via Colin Clark dropped in a 3rd closer to the end of the game. 3-0 was the final score.

Prediction Thursday has been missing for quite a while. Frequent blogging has been kinda something of the past as well. I hope to pick up the pace on both of them in the future.
2 – 0
There you have it. New England is the class of the league, Colorado is in the slums. Even playing at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park I think the Revolution have a big advantage. Of course something strange could happen, like Taylor Twellman scoring an own goal and the only goal of the game for a Rapids 1-0 victory, but DeRosario already took care of that once this year.
My MFLS team is back into first place so I’ve got some more motivation than I have in the past few weeks!

If the goal scored around the 12th minute by Herculez Gomez had not been called back due to a bad offiside call, the Rapids would have gone up 2 – 0. Instead of that happening, Real Salt Lake scored a just a short time afterwards to tie the game at the final score of 1 – 1.
Had the goal been allowed and the Rapids gone up 2 – 0 anything could have happened during the rest of the game. Maybe Real Salt Lake gets pissed off and scores 4 2nd half goals, who knows? But the one thing I know is that I would have been much more likely to have a correct Thursday prediction. I would have bet $100 that Real Salt Lake is not going to come back from 2 down. They did that last week, they won’t twice in a row.
But no matter what I think, I was still wrong. This isn’t going so good with 1 correct out of 5 weeks. I’ll probably manage to screw up Dallas/Chicago next week as well.

Tonite we will be treated to the next installment in the Rocky Mountain Cup, which of course is the game between the two Major League Soccer cities that are in the Rocky Mountains. The game tonight will take place at Dick’s Sporting Good Park in Colorado, home of the Rapids, terrordome if you are Real Salt Lake tonight. Well at least if you trust in my Thursday prediction this week. I don’t know what RSL did to put 3 past NY last weekend, but
Colorado Rapids 2 – 0 Real Salt Lake

Tonight Ronald Waterreus set the MLS record for most consecutive shut out minutes to start an MLS career. Later in the game the Red Bulls captured the MLS record for longest shut out streak to start a season at 4 full games and counting. With their next game against Real Salt Lake they have a good chance of really extending this record quite a ways.
FC Dallas had about 2 or 3 times they looked dangerous and threatened Waterreus, otherwise the RBNY defense looked awfully good. The Red Bulls pretty much dominated almost the whole game. For me they look like they could be top class in the East this year. RBNY and Chivas USA have impressed me the most so far this season. How long until those 2 hook up?
And I finally get one right on the Thursday Night Predictions!
1 – 2

Tonite the East leading New York Red Bulls travel to the West leading FC Dallas. ESPN2’s coverage starts at 7pm central.
Both New York and Dallas are doing unexpectadly well so far this year, although the season is very young still.
I’m really liking NY right now, but they should be without Clint Mathis and they are playing at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, so it is gonna be a tough pick for me.
Last season FC Dallas won this matchup both times they met, so I’m sticking with the Red Bulls to take both this year as they have already beaten FC Dallas 3-0. I imagine the Red Bulls will continue their shut out streak tonite and enjoy another shut out victory over FC Dallas, but only score 2 goals this time. So that is the prediction: NYRB 2 – 0 FC Dallas. Even without Mathis Bruce will get the result he wants.

Every Thursday I will take a stab at a prediction on that nights game. I’ve added my running total to the sidebar if you scroll down a way.
So this week we have the New England Revolution at Columbus Crew. I don’t see any reason to think the Crew are going to change their season yet and score a goal. The Revolution look like they will be tough in the East as usual. 2-0 win for the Revolution, probably 2 more goals for TT. I should have him on my fantasy team.
