Jeff Cunningham has 99 career MLS goals which has him at 4th on the all time league history goal scoring charts. Cunningham is currently 31 years old. How much is a player with those stats worth?
Toronto FC aparently thinks that is worth a 3rd round draft pick in next year’s draft. That is what they received in a trade that sent Cunningham to FC Dallas.
Is this a sign that Kenny Cooper is going away? There have been a lot of rumors about him recently. Maybe FC Dallas just came across a bargain and had to take it. Cunningham along with Cooper could be a very nice combo.
Am I the only person who thinks FC Dallas got the bargain of the year in this trade?

Toronto FC is 6 points down from the last playoff spot currently held by the Columbus Crew. Mo Johnston still thinks the playoffs are a realistic goal.
They also have 2 other teams above them still trying to get into that last playoff spot and Mo still thinks the playoffs are a possibility.
A former scoring champion and all around good striker Jeff Cunningham is now out for the rest of the season and Mo is still hoping for playoffs.
TFC’s only representative in this years all star game, Ronnie O’Brien is now also out for the remainder of the season. All the while Mo is thinking his team should make the playoffs still.
Other TFC fans are not quite as optimistic as Mo has been.

It doesn’t happen that two teams swap players, then face off against each other and have both players score against their old teams. It happened earlier when Houston and Columbus made a trade and now it has happened again. This time it was Jeff Cunningham scoring for his new team Toronto FC against Alecko Eskandarian and his new team Real Salt Lake.
Toronto FC got the better of this one today as they also got a goal from Collin Samuel when he took a PK in the 79th minute. Cunningham also made it into the ref’s book getting a yellow card!

The nominees in the category of Best Major League Soccer Player at the ESPYs have been announced. I don’t know how much of a season these awards are supposed to cover. Being that the award show takes place on July 16th it seems odd that they would be based on this current season, and it is kinda late to give awards for last season, so maybe it covers anything that happened in they year 2006, or possibly just the past year since July 2006.
The nominees are Jeff Cunningham, Christian Gomez, Landon Donavan and Matt Reis. If the award covers the past season, I think it goes to Jeff Cunningham. Gomez was the MVP last year, but that is different than a best player award. Cunningham was the leagues top goal scorer on a bottom of the league team.
Who do you think deserves the award?

Jeff Cunningham is headed to Toronto FC and in return Alecko Eskandarian is going to Real Salt Lake. This is a surprising trade to me. I can’t imagine why Real Salt Lake would give up Jeff Cunningham. Alecko is a great player, but for my money I don’t think this is an even swap. I’d rather have Cunningham on my team, but I guess I wouldn’t complain about Alecko, he does have a much more enjoyable name to say.
I can’t be long, gotta get on to some hockey tonite. go Ducks.

I heard a rumor about a possible trade or sale of last years league top scorer Jeff Cunningham to Maccabi Netanya in Isreal. I don’t know anything about that team, or any Isreal team for that matter, but this still seems hard to beleive to me.
Could it be possible?
