Hanging With The Wizards

Jimmy Conrad occasionally writes for ESPNsoccernet and it is usually pretty good stuff, but recently we got a great article in which Jimmy interviews his teammates asking them some “semi-serious” questions.

My favorite part of this is that they reveal what their team huddle pre-kickoff cheer is: “Taste the Rainbow”. Maybe some of you don’t know they used to have a pretty sweet rainbow on their jerseys. I looked for a good picture of one but couldn’t find one so I’ll take a pic of my old Wizards jersey and post it here later tonite.

Next European Coming To MLS Rumor: Claude Makalele

Claude Makalele wanted to retire from international games after last years world cup where he was with France to their 2nd place finish. Now he wants to stay with France through Euro 2008 which does not sit well with his current club coach Jose Murinho at Chelsea. Along with that and a very deep squad at Chelsea, Makalele’s playing time has been very limited.

Makalele still has a full year left on his Chelsea contract but he isn’t sure if he’ll be there next season. He admitted that he’d be willing to play in Major League Soccer because it wouldn’t affect his status with his national team.

Where would Calude end up if he did come to MLS? Who would want him or benefit from him the most? The first thing that comes to my mind when there is mention of any French star coming to MLS would have to be TFC. Maybe there is somewhere he fits in better, possible New England is Joseph is on his way out. What do you think?

Eddie Johnson Scores Hat Trick History

Eddie Johnson and the Kansas City Wizards are hot. Eddie “The Juice” Johnson just made Major League Soccer history by being the first player to score hat tricks in consecutive games.

The Wizards topped the league leading New York Red Bulls on Saturday where Johnson got his second consecutive hat trick. The Wizads get some time off now. Their next game isn’t until June 16th when they travel to New York to take on the Red Bulls there. Maybe The Juice can make it a hat trick of hat tricks then!

Last year the Wizards and Red Bulls played on the last day of league games to decide who got the bottom playoff spot in the East, which the Red Bulls won. This year it seems they might be playing for the top spot in the league.

What A Day For Some Metric Football!

I’ve seen Spain vs Latvia and watching Germany vs San Marino right now. Still to come is USA vs China and even later is DC United vs LA Galaxy. I can’t image there is much of a better day than this!

What is up with Toronto FC, they pulled off another victory today, and this time it was against a good team. Wow, they are making a move for a playoff spot.

I hope you guys in KC are having fun drinking the beer that Kevin Hartman bought for you, wish I was there!

Here you can see who we were cheering for:

I’m Getting Sick Of These Theme Problems

I can never get the theme to work just like I want it and it gets screwed up. I’m gonna go for something real simple, so the site will be a mess for a while. Sorry about that…

Kevin Hartman Buys Fans Beer!

While browsing the forums at BigSoccer I come across this nice tidbit of information, Kevin Hartman is buying a keg of Newcastle beer for fans before tomorrows game!

I wonder if this is a common thing in the MLS or in Kansas City.  Anybody?

Well either way this is pretty cool.  It really makes me want to go watch the Wizards take over the top of the table tomorrow at Arrowhead!  Knowing that I won’t make it to that game I think about how much I should order the MLS package on my DISH Network system.  I would love to watch RBNY come into Arrowhead tomorrow, but by the power of the Fox Soccer Channel I will be watching DC United and LA Galaxy.  At least I’ll be watching some game.
