My Opinion: MLS Format

Sometime last week I read an article somewhere about the format of the MLS season and playoffs and how the MLS Cup is required to keep the interest of the American fans and the US Open Cup is meaningless.  I fully disagree.
I would love to see the division of east and west teams go away.  [...]

Open tryouts lead to a couple of real prospects

The LA Galaxy recently held open tryouts that were critisized by some as something an amateur team would do.  It turns out to not be such a bad deal, they got 2 prospects from the tryouts that will be training with the team in the upcoming preseason schedule.
Rui Fortes, most recently with the Rhode Island [...]

Red Bulls get Nick Rimando

The New York Red Bulls acquired Nick Rimando from Real Salt Lake on Friday.  Real Salt Lake is getting future considerations in return for Rimando, who they only recently got themselves.
This give Bruce Arean 3 quality keepers with Jon Conway and Ronald Waterreus there to back up Rimando who will likey be the starter.  It [...]

Arsenal Colorado

The rumors have been going around about he Rapids changing their name recently. Now the Colorado Rapids are going to announce an official partnership with Arsenal, the London based EPL team, one of the biggest in England.

Real Salt Lake gets a Stadium

Utah came up with $35 million to help Real Salt Lake buid their very own soccer specific stadium.  This is very good.  It doesn’t bother me if Salt Lake has a team or not, but thats bad news for the League if an expansion team can’t stick around for more than 2 years.  The owner [...]

Pablo was awesome!
Congrats to Jimmy Conrad, what a way to get your first goal!
Mexico was unlucky several times in the 2nd half to not score.
I want to see Taylor Twellman soon.
After Jimmy Conrad’s goal the camera cut to [...]

More Zidane Rumors

Yesterday Zinedine Zidane was asked at a New York Knicks game about MLS trying to get him to come out of retirement and to play in the US.  “No comment” was his response.
Chicago seemed to fail at luring Zidane to Major League Soccer, but maybe the Red Bulls are doing a better job.  Is a [...]
